Ayanle Ali,

'I worked in the DECC team researching the asset management strategies adopted by government organisations (such as the NDA, OfGEM and OfWAT). I also worked in the DfT team providing economic analysis for a Value for Money report (the NAO produce Value for Money reports as well as auditing government accounts).
I've had many incredible experiences such as taking part in a Public Accounts Committee hearing where I was able to see how the research conducted by the NAO is used to hold government to account. The organisation itself has a very productive working culture. Everybody is incredibly friendly and you’ll never be short of a helping hand. The work-life balance of the NAO is one of the greatest aspects of the job and there are many different societies constantly holding events!
At the end of our internship we had an assessment day for the 2014 graduate scheme and over 60% of the interns were successful in securing this prestigious graduate scheme. I’d definitely recommend applying to this internship if you’re looking for both interesting and important work in a healthy working environment, a great work-life balance, an invaluable learning experience and the opportunity to secure a great training contract.''

"After graduating from university I worked for Standard Chartered Bank as an African Economist and currently I work for CDC as an Investment Analyst where I invest in African private equity funds.
I learnt a lot about team work on the LPU and my own strengths and weaknesses. A highlight for me was the cultural show that we put on and an activity week where we had received intense coaching and did outdoor activities.
The LPU helped me to build a strong network of really talented, intelligent peers and amazing coaches."

"I am currently now Director for Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa for an American software company specialising in Enterprise Social Media Management called Shoutlet where I have been the top Regional Director for consecutive quarters (Q1-Q3 2013) with clients won such as The Sun, The Sunday Times, The Times, Cloetta, The First Bank of Rock and Swisscom including winning the largest deal for the company globally in EMEA to date as well as the largest brand acquisition in the companies history to date.
The success I have had in this role, is directly related to the journey through the Windsor Fellowship since I was 14 with the most recent programme being the LPU and for that I am truly grateful for the opportunity and continued support. The programme gave me the confidence to engage and build relationships with people at all levels of a business... Being a fellow has had a significant impact in my day to day career and it is a big part of who I am. My biggest highlight was our cultural programme at the end, bringing together raw talents from around the world with a diverse cohort really showcasing some of the skills we had learnt with the great new friends we had made along the way.
The LPU has provided a foundation for my success. I have the confidence to pitch and win new business as a direct result of the training from the programme and to present in concise and coherent manner... The programme pushes you beyond your limits, outside of your comfort zone – a life lesson worth learning now. It prepares you for a world outside of general university and education structure where you have to be creative, diligent and determined with what you do. The LPU has taught me to embrace and learn from failures and balance my emotions in celebrating my successes. All in all, the LPU is geared not just to showcase yourself as an academic with a 2:1 but as a human being with a lot to offer.

Through the LPU programme, I learnt a great deal about my strengths and weaknesses. This was achieved through seminars and workshops which were led by some remarkable leaders who were happy to share their life experience.
I came out of the LPU programme with a better idea of the career I wanted to pursue and some concrete milestones to help me along that path.
After the LPU programme, I completed a Masters in International Relations at the College of Europe (Bruges), interned at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (London/Cairo), interned at the European Commission (Brussels), completed the Legal Practice Course (London) and completed a training contract at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. On completing my training contract, I qualified as a Solicitor. I now work for another City firm, Fieldfisher LLP, where I specialise in dispute resolution."

"After completing my undergraduate studies I immediately started work as a Research Assistant at a charity called ENGAGE, whose objectives include increasing political and media awareness amongst British Muslims as well as challenging Islamophobia.
I recently decided to go back into education, pursuing my passion for foreign languages. I have been studying Arabic at the Modern Arabic Language International Center (MALIC) in Amman, Jordan since April 2013 and plan on completing my studies in January 2014. After this I hope to find work where I am able to use my language skills.
I benefitted greatly from my two years on the LPU; as well as meeting some brilliant people, having a safe environment to develop professional skills and learn about the world of work was invaluable. I entered post-graduate employment with self-confidence and a desire to continue to learn and develop."
