DeepMind Science, Technology and Society Scholarships
The Windsor Fellowship is working with University College London (UCL) to offer scholarships funded by DeepMind to students who will be the undertaking the MSc Science, Technology and Society (STS) for 2022/2023, and who have an interest in AI. Students interested in this scholarship are advised to apply to the course as early as possible.
The DeepMind Scholarships are positive action initiatives to help UCL ensure that it can attract and support students from all sections of the community, particularly groups that are under-represented in post-graduate studies.
DeepMind STS Scholarships will cover tuition fees in full and provide a £16,000 maintenance stipend. Additionally, £2,000 is provided to cover attendance at relevant academic conferences (either in person or virtually). A further £1,500 is provided as an equipment grant.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available for UK (Home fee status) course applicants who will be undertaking the course on a full-time basis. Candidates must be from at least one of the following under-represented groups within the MSc Science, Technology and Society:

Identify as British Black-African or British Black-Caribbean

From a household with an annual income of less than £25,000

You must have completed your application to the MSc Science, Technology and Society before applying for the scholarship separately.

Windsor Fellowship will assess and shortlist the scholarship applications based on financial need and socio-economic background. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview (either in person or virtually) with the Windsor Fellowship.

Staff associated with the MSc Science, Technology and Society will make the final selection from this shortlist. This will be based on candidates’ interest in, and knowledge of, ethics and AI, as determined by answers to the question on the application form and by reference to their course application form.
